Endless drip – brushstroke series.
Sculpture.png
  • Organic and curved shapes

  • Feeling of being mechanically produced.

  • It is 3D, but has an impression of being 2D, dripping through the landscape.

  • The sharp ending gives a feeling of it being endless. Combined with the name, "endless drip", it could signify infinity or endless inspiration.

  • Contemporary look.

  • It looks like it could have been made today and therefore I believe it is a great representative from the permanent collection for Louisiana, a museum of modern art.

Persona and Empathy Map

(Based on brand/shop analysis)

On the basis of Charlotte living a busy life, family time is important to her. She and her family often visit Louisiana. Soon it is her daughter’s birthday and therefore, she is searching for a jewellery as a gift.
The jewellery must be a reminder of Louisiana and her daughter’s favourite artwork, “Endless Drip”.

Point of View.

HOW MIGHT WE.

Create a souvenir jewellery, that Charlotte’s daughter would appreciate. With the Scandinavian minimalism and simplicity, which is synonymous to Louisiana and at the same time inspired by the artwork

Sketching Process

Mood board for direction when rhino sketching.

I wanted to explore the outlines/lines and the mechanically produced expression, combined with organic shapes, but still with a simple and minimalistic look. I also wanted to express the impression of something dripping through the landscape by somehow incorporating the jewellery with the body.

Thoughts behind the designs
A collection of 4 designs based on testing. Download for test.

Price
Most jewelry sold in the shop is priced between 400-800 DKK. When designing I kept the price range in mind and the fact that I had to design a souvenir which is often mass produced, in connection to this, I created designs that are easy and quick to renovate.

Product
Louisiana mostly sell earrings. Therefore,
I made earrings, and additionally,

necklaces. It is also available in gold-plated because Louisiana mostly sell gold-plated.

Test Results

Design
All the motifs are inspired by brushstrokes which are simplified to create a minimalistic look. I worked with the lines and the simplification because it relates to Roy Lichtenstein,
I believe this combination fit with the visual aesthetic of Louisiana.

The earrings are made to fold around the earlobe to have the motif dripping down as a reference to the sculpture. All the motifs have a sudden ending
to create the feeling of it being
endless, a reference to the statue.

Merchandise

Louisiana promotes themselves through posters and other merchandise.
The motifs can be used in as poster and bags.

Prototype

Taking inspiration in a concept of brushstrokes was interesting to work with as a souvenir. Because it can represent my chosen artwork and Louisiana. While it also sums up what Louisiana is, a museum of modern art.
